Nga: Community service can teach litterbugs responsibility

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said keeping public spaces clean was a shared responsibility and urged Malaysians to adopt a no-littering culture.

Speaking at the 2026 Cleaning Workers Appreciation Day on Tuesday, he called on the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) to strengthen enforcement of Community Service Orders (PKM) to promote greater public responsibility.

Nga said PKM was not merely punitive, but also aimed to instil discipline, responsibility and awareness of public cleanliness.
