Beijing expressed deep concern on Friday (Dec 19) after Japanese media reported that a senior security official suggested the country should acquire nuclear weapons to deter potential aggressors, as the diplomatic spat between the two nations escalates following the Japanese government's remark that that a Chinese attack on Taiwan threatening Japan's survival could trigger a military response.
