Penang state environment committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said the test results are finally out from the water sample taken from Teluk Bahang, showing contamination of heavy metals at a permissible level, and concluded that the death of the fish there is due to lack of oxygen.

Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (Cemacs) director Prof Datuk Dr Aileen Tan said strong current and wave from the Typhoon Lekima might have stirred some toxins from the seabed, causing the high mortality of the fish.
