Suspect who tried to mug man in wheelchair in Penang arrested

A 32-year-old suspect was arrested after a video clip showing a man attempting to snatch a sling bag from a wheelchair-bound man went viral.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the suspect, who was the pillion rider of the motorcycle, was detained at about 10.30am on Saturday (Nov 14), about an hour after the failed robbery attempt.

ACP Soffian said police were currently looking for the suspect's accomplice and the case is investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing a robbery.
