Stop hurting my friends, says Mohd Ziyad

National shot putter Mohd Ziyad Zolkefli urged Malaysians to stop attacking Ukrainian gold and silver medallists Maksym Koval and Oleksandr YarovyiI in social media.

After arriving at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang on Friday (Sept 3), Ziyad shared his disappointment of losing a gold due to a protest lodged by the Ukrainian camp - but he was more saddened with the reactions by some of the Malaysian fans.

Meanwhile, his coach, Mohd Faizol Harun took responsibility for the incident and said no one should be blamed but him.
