Penang police chief Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan said the situation at the Ayer Itam market has improved following the new ruling to ban roadside hawking at several market complexes, but it was still crowded at the market.

Comm Sahabudin said this after a visit to the Ayer Itam market on Sunday, adding that starting Sunday noon, roadside hawking around market complexes in Ayer Itam, Bayan Baru, Jalan Perak and Jelutong will be banned until the MCO is over.
