Saifuddin: Madani govt upholds right to peaceful assembly

The Madani government upholds the right to peaceful assembly as enshrined in Article 10(1)(b) of the Federal Constitution, with 99% of the 7,000 assembly notifications received last year proceeding without obstruction, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
During the ministry's winding-up session for the Royal Address debate in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Feb 20), Saifuddin highlighted the government's proposal to amend regulations, requiring only notification from organisers rather than approval from venue owners.
