Rare tornado wreaks havoc in villages and towns in southwestern France

A tornado swept through several villages and towns in the Aude region of southwestern France on Aug 24 afternoon, destroying homes and injuring dozens, authorities said, describing it as a rare and traumatic event.

Around 300 of the 500 houses in Pomas village have been damaged, and 100 of the damaged ones may no longer be safe to live in.
