Ramadan recipes: Bakwan Udang

Bakwan Udang Ingredients:

150 grams flour

1 egg

60 grams carrots

30 grams white cabbage

10 grams leeks

200 ml water

150 grams prawns

½ tsp white pepper

½ tsp salt

½ tsp sugar

Vegetable oil

Bakwan Udang Method:

Mix flour, salt, and pepper.

Add water and egg, stir well.

Add white cabbage, carrot, leek, stir well again.

Add peeled shrimp to the batter.

Heat vegetable oil.

Add spoons of batter to the oil in small batches.

Fry until fritters turn golden brown on both sides.

Serve with Sambal Colo-Colo.

Colo-Colo Sauce Ingredients:

4 shallots, chopped

6 red chilies, chopped

2 tomatoes, julienned

Juice of 1 lime

50 ml sweet soy sauce

Salt to taste

Colo-Colo Sauce Method:

Chop red shallots, tomatoes and red chili, mix all ingredients in a bowl.

Add lime juice.

Add sweet soy sauce and salt to taste.

Serve as condiment with Bakwan Udang.
