Kedah gives approval to local company to extract rare earth elements

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor announced on Wednesday (Dec 2) that the state has mineral deposits estimated at RM43 trillion throughout the state and a company based in Kuala Lumpur was given an approval permit last week to carry out exploration work in Sik.

The MB’s office later clarified that the correct figure for the rare earth deposits was RM62 billion.
