The government has announced more relaxation of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the sports and tourism sector, including the resumption of the Malaysia Cup and allowing the country to host international-level sporting events.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that on Friday, adding that for states under recovery movement control order (MCO), a maximum of 4,000 spectators or 10% of the seating capacity will be permitted.

For states under the conditional MCO, matches will be played without spectators, while matches are banned for places under enhanced MCO.

For contact sports, participants must first take swab tests and be declared Covid-19 negative before they can take part in games.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences & Exhibitions (MICE) events, tourist attractions such as zoos and recreational parks, museums and theme parks are allowed to reopen starting Dec 19 but the number of attendees are limited to 50% of the premises space, with physical distancing applied.
