Domestic tourism will recover sooner than expected, says minister

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the domestic tourism sector will recover earlier than expected, due to the high level of compliance with the standard operating procedure when it comes to fighting the Covid-19.

She clarified that the 75% hotel occupancy rate she mentioned earlier in Parliament was for popular hotels like those at resorts and tourist destinations such as Langkawi.

Nationwide, the average occupancy rate of hotels was between 21% and 30%, she said this after visiting several tourist spots in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
