Zero-carbon road in China's largest desert

The Tarim Desert Highway traverses China's largest desert in Xinjiang. To protect the road, shelterbelts have been built and diesel engines used to pump irrigation water. As of now, all diesel engines have been replaced by photovoltaic power stations.
