Zahid tells Umno to shift from ceramah to social media to win over youth

Umno must sharpen its communication strategy, particularly non-verbal messaging on social media, to better connect with voters, said party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Speaking at the launch of the Digital Era in Politics Symposium 2026 during the Umno General Assembly on Wednesday (Jan 14), Ahmad Zahid said about 82% of voters — especially youth — prefer non-verbal communication.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, also acknowledged grassroots concerns over financial constraints affecting the effectiveness of party machinery.
