Lionel Messi's hat-trick gave those lucky enough to witness it in Kansas City in the United States a night they will never forget as he kick-started Argentina's World Cup defence in style on June 16.

The 38-year-old became the joint leading scorer in the tournament's history on 16 goals alongside Miroslav Klose and ensured the sales of a few more Messi 10 shirts to his adoring countrymen and new fans in north America.
