Workers deserve a fair share of nation's economic growth, Ramanan says in Labour Day speech

Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan said Malaysian workers are the backbone of national development and must receive a fair share of economic progress.

Speaking at the Labour Day celebration at Bukit Jalil on Friday, Ramanan acknowledged ongoing cost-of-living pressures, stressing that progress must be fairly shared.

He also announced new measures including the Lindung 24 Jam scheme extending social protection to 9.6 million workers outside working hours, and an expansion of the Housewives Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) age limit from 55 to 60, benefiting over 720,000 women.
