National men's doubles shuttler Soh Wooi Yik had wanted to become a champion since he was nine years old, says his father Soh Goon Chup.

Goon Chup, who had been a national player himself, welcomed his son upon his and Aaron's arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Thursday, said he was happy about his son's historic achievement with Aaron but is anticipating a tough road ahead for the duo.
