Victory Day parade scaled back, Putin says Russia will prevail

Russia held its most scaled-back Victory Day parade in years on Saturday (May 9) due to the threat of attack from Ukraine, where victory for Moscow's forces has proven elusive more than four years into the deadliest European conflict since World War Two.
In his speech at the parade, Russian President Vladimir Putin compared the events of World War Two with events of today's conflict in Ukraine and said the Russia will prevail, like Soviet Union prevailed in World War Two.
