Transport Ministry mulls mandatory defensive driving courses for drivers with offence records

The Transport Ministry is considering making defensive driving courses mandatory for drivers with traffic offences or suspended licences, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.

Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Jan 27), Loke said the move aims to focus on practical skills and accident prevention rather than just passing tests.

The ministry also plans targeted interventions for school students riding motorcycles following a recent road-safety committee meeting.
