Thousands of protesters marched through cities across Pakistan on Friday (August 7) in rallies organised by the religious political party Jamaat-e-Islami against the government's imposition of a petroleum levy, as party chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman called for a nationwide escalation of the protest movement.
