The English language is the biggest industry in Pare, Indonesia. About 100km away from Surabaya, Java, this East Javan town is home to about 200 English language centres, thousands of students coming from all over Indonesia every year and a few others from around the region. And it started from one man, who came up with a centre teaching it in 1977, which has seen Pare earning the title of Kampung Inggeris, or English Village.
