B. Subramaniam was a respected international boxing administrator and judge who stood as an authoritative figure in the Malaysian amateur boxing scene for several decades.

But on Thursday (July 8), he passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Subramaniam suffered from stage four cancer of the kidney. He was 75.

Widely known as "boxing Maniam" among his peers, he was the team manager during the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, where Sapok Biki won the nation's first-ever gold medal in the light flyweight division.
