Supply-demand mismatch and weak data adding to housing market issues, Dewan Rakyat told

Malaysia's housing challenges stem from a mismatch between supply and demand rather than affordability alone, says Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu.

Aiman Athirah added that house prices are influenced by more than construction costs, requiring a balance between affordability and developers' sustainability.

She said the government will continue supporting first-time buyers through initiatives such as credit guarantee schemes and step-up financing.
