The Dewan Rakyat Speaker has no powers to expedite any motions filed for debates, says Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun.

The Speaker himself said this was following the convention and practices of Westminster democracy after Opposition MPs asked why the motions of no confidence against the Prime Minister could not jump the queue and be debated in the August House before government business.
