Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said issues related to the rising cost of living in Malaysia and Thailand are among the matters to be discussed in his meeting with Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin two-day working visit to Malaysia starting Wednesday (Oct 11).

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said in reply to Datuk Awang Solahuddin Hashim (PN-Pendang) in Parliament that he would would announce several measures under Budget 2024 to help ease the cost of living not only for the lower income group but for other affected groups as well.

The Prime Minister also informed the House that more than RM81bil would be spent to provide subsidies this year, and assured that it would not be at the expense of the lower income and other affected groups although rationalisation is needed to address ballooning subsidy cost.
