Rescue team finds 'nothing but ruins' at flood-hit Himalayan border crossing

Nepal and China are carrying out rescue operations and infrastructure repair works in the flood-hit Himalayan region, with a Chinese rescue team reaching the all-but-obliterated Gyirong border crossing complex on Aug 28 for the first time and finding "nothing but ruins".
A glacier collapse on Aug 26 unleashed a huge torrent of rock, ice, mud and debris through Himalayan mountain river systems, killing 626 people in Nepal and seven in China's Tibet autonomous region.
