Muslims should seek marital advice from official religious authorities instead of unauthorised “divorce coaches” (coach cerai), says Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Marhamah Rosli.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Jan 20), Marhamah urged the public to turn to the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) or state Islamic affairs departments, stressing that these bodies have trained personnel to handle marital disputes.
She said official counselling platforms help couples identify the root of conflicts, improve communication and reach fair, well-considered solutions.
