Former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has questioned the timing of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki’s announcement that two individuals have been proposed for charges over a RM1.1bil semiconductor investment deal involving the Economy Ministry and a UK-based firm, calling it “odd” as investigations are still ongoing.
Speaking to reporters after giving his statement at MACC headquarters for the third consecutive day, Rafizi said the probe centres on procedural issues rather than financial transactions.
He added that he is not worried and is confident of mounting a strong defence should charges be filed.
