The Transport Ministry will begin leveraging port infrastructure to enforce regulations against overloaded heavy vehicles starting July 1, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
Speaking at a press conference after launching the Car Carrier Truck Driver Training Programme for Electric Vehicle (EV) Handling in Port Klang, Selangor on Thursday (April 24), Loke said further details on the enforcement mechanism would be announced by the respective Port Authorities.
He acknowledged that the tighter rules may increase operational costs for service providers but stressed that the move is necessary to tackle a long-standing road safety concern.
