Port controls being stepped up to curb waste dumping in Malaysia

The Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry will intensify port controls, particularly in Port Klang, to prevent the entry of illegal waste.
Speaking after inspecting containers suspected of carrying illegal materials at North Port on Monday (May 19), Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad told reporters that the ministry takes a serious view of any attempt to use Malaysia as a gateway for importing or dumping illicit waste.
