PM: 'Proper assessment' needed before termination of BR1M

When asked to comment on Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH), formerly known as BR1M, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said welfare aid should be given only to the most deserving, adding that a proper assessment must be done to find out if recipients of government assistance really needed it.

Dr Mahathir said distributing welfare aid to people indiscriminately and without looking at their circumstances is a “lazy government’s way of doing things”.

The Prime Minister said that after officiating the Cities 4.0 and Business 4.0 International Conference and Exhibition on Monday.
