Partner private sector to promote M’sian handicraft overseas, state govts told

The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry has urged state governments and the private sector to work together to promote Malaysian tourism products, including batik, overseas.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing told the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (July 8) that stronger collaboration was needed to expand the global reach and export potential of local handicrafts.
Responding to Wan Razali Wan Nor (PN-Kuantan) on assistance for batik entrepreneurs, Tiong said the ministry and Kraftangan Malaysia would strengthen partnerships with the private sector to modernise handicraft centres into more interactive and competitive hubs.
