Al-sultan Abdullah Ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah was overcome by emotion when he paid a heartfelt tribute to his parents.

In his first speech as the Ruler of Pahang on Tuesday, Sultan Abdullah said he felt humbled having inherited the throne from his father Paduka Ayahanda Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Sultan Abdullah also appealed to the people to extend prayers for Sultan Ahmad Shah’s protection as well as to his late mother Almarhumah Tengku Ampuan Afzan.

Sultan Abdullah’s consort Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar was also visibly moved and could be seen wiping away her tears.

After composing himself, Sultan Abdullah continued his speech by thanking Sultanah Kalsom, his siblings and family members who had taken care of Sultan Ahmad Shah.

He also called on the state leadership at all levels to serve the people with trust, responsibility and piety, saying that only a God-fearing leader would realise that every action and decision made would be taken into account in the afterlife.
