Over 100 detained in during Immigration Dept factory raids

A joint enforcement raid on factories in Shah Alam and Balakong led to the arrest of 133 illegal immigrants from multiple countries.

Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the foreigners detained included Indonesians, Bangladeshis, Indians, Myanmar nationals, Nepalese, Pakistanis, Vietnamese and Chinese nationals.

The operation, involving several agencies, also detected customs violations including smuggled cigarettes and untaxed alcohol.
