US President Donald Trump on May 5 said the operation to guide and protect commercial ships out of the Strait of Hormuz, dubbed "Project Freedom" by the US military, will be paused for a short period to see whether an agreement can be finalised and signed, although the naval blockade of Iranian ships will remain in force.
