No pork shortage for CNY, says Deputy Agri Minister

There will be no shortage of pork for the upcoming Chinese New Year festive season, Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Chan Foong Hin has assured.

Speaking at a press conference at Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 27), Chan said pork supply from Selangor has been minimal following a halt in pig farming due to African Swine Fever and a royal decree by the Selangor Ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

However, he added that the shortfall is being offset by supplies from farms in Perak, other states and imported frozen pork.
