Nepal floods: Families seek clarity on missing Malaysians as search enters day nine

As the search for 55 Malaysians missing in the Nepal-China border disaster entered its ninth day, families urged the government to be realistic and transparent about the chances of finding survivors.

Malaysia Solidarity: Families in Hope (Masfih) representative Dr R. Manivannan, whose sister Komathi is among the missing, called for clear and specific updates on the search, saying families needed concrete details on what was being done on the ground, rather than broad updates they had to interpret themselves.

He also urged the government to clarify the role of the proposed Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (Smart) — whether it would focus on finding survivors, recovery or identification.
