Nepal flood: Bridge rebuilt in Devighat, nation seeks global help for US$5bil to rebuild

Nepali authorities completed construction of a new bridge over the Tadi river on Sept 10 to reconnect the flood-devastated town of Devighat with the capital Kathmandu.

The government said it will ask wealthier countries and global agencies for financial help this week, arguing they should contribute to an estimated US$5bil needed for initial rebuilding after a Himalayan glacier broke off near the Nepal-China border on Aug 26 and caused deadly devastation along rivers further downstream.
