Multi-million ringgit registration fee waived for M'sia to host F1, says Anwar

Malaysia will host this year’s Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix at a fraction of the cost, with the multi-million ringgit registration fee waived, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking at the Semarak Kenegaraan programme in Gemas, Negri Sembilan on Monday (July 27), Anwar said the government would only spend about RM16mil on minor upgrades to the Sepang International Circuit ahead of the Oct 2 to 4 race.

Anwar added that Malaysia was chosen over dozens of other countries due to its peace and stability, efficient administration and strong infrastructure.
