Mother, companion get seven years’ jail for abusing and neglecting son

The Johor Baru Sessions Court on Wednesday (Nov 1) sentenced a single mother and her female companion to seven years’ in jail for abusing and neglecting her seven-year-old son.

27-year-old Nurul Asyiqin Mohamad Zahir and her housemate 30 year-old Awiin Chua initially claimed trial to the charges but later pleaded guilty after the charges against them were read again in front of Sessions Judge VM Mabel Sheela on Sept 27.
