Datin Kalsom Taib was just 15 when she saw the Union Jack being lowered on the night of August 30, 1957 and Tunku Abdul Rahman proclaiming Malaya’s independence on August 31, 1957.

The 79-year-old author says memories of those historic moments will remain etched in her mind forever.
