Melaka assembly dissolved, says Speaker Ab Rauf

The Melaka state assembly has been dissolved, says Speaker Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Ab Rauf said that in a a special press conference on Tuesday, adding that Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam had agreed to dissolve the Melaka Legislative Assembly, meaning that the state will have to hold a snap election within 60 days.

The Speaker said the current Melaka state government would act as a caretaker government until the election is called, added that the Election Commission could propose the best standard operating procedures (SOP) to the National Security Council (NSC) and the Health Ministry to curb the spread of Covid-19.
