MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said delegates at Sunday’s party annual general meeting would be able to decide whether they would amend the party constitution to only hold party elections six months after a general election.

Currently, MCA and its Youth and Wanita wings hold elections at branch, division, state and national levels every three years.

During a press conference on Thursday, he added that this is one of the three major amendments to be tabled at the annual general meeting for approval.

The other amendments include lowering the minimum age for joining MCA from 18 years to 16 years and allowing Malaysians who are not of Chinese descent to join the party as affiliate members.
