US President Donald Trump said his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping signaled Beijing’s interest in helping broker progress on Iran, including keeping key shipping routes open, as he pressed Tehran to strike a deal with Washington on Tehran abandoning its nuclear weapon programme.

Iranians voiced concern over talks between the US and China, saying closer coordination between the two powers could leave Tehran exposed as a bargaining chip.
