Malaysia doesn't just want more medical device factories - it wants Malaysians running them, designing them, and owning the technology inside them.

That's the pointed message from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who used the closing of the International Medical Device Exhibition and Conference (IMDEC) 2026 to warn that foreign investment alone won't make Malaysia a genuine MedTech power.
