Malaysia launches RM500mil Sukuk Prihatin fund

Malaysia’s first digital sukuk, the RM500 million Sukuk Prihatin under the National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana), was launched at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (Aug 18), witnessed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

In his speech, Muhyiddin said the issuing of the Sukuk Prihatin Islamic bonds is in response to the people’s desire to help the government rebuild the economy in the post-Covid-19 pandemic era.
