Like a desert bloom, date palm trees grow in KL centre

The row of date palm trees in Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur is a sign that even the city centre is capable of growing such rare fruits, says Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan.

The mayor said that during his visit to the area on Tuesday, adding that the planting of the trees was part of the city’s River of Life (ROL) project.
