A frantic warning sent headmaster Rajendra Dawadi and his colleagues into a race against time to evacuate hundreds of students from a school in Nepal’s Trishuli on Aug 26.

The alarm was raised as a powerful surge of muddy floodwater tore through the valley, destroying everything in its path.
