Lam Thye: Treat people who attempt suicide as patients, not criminals

The Attorney-General's Chambers has been urged to review Section 309 of the Penal Code so that those who attempt suicide are not punished but provided with psychiatric treatment.

National Mental Health Promotion Advisory Council member Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye called for the repeal on Friday to treat those individuals as patients, and not as criminals.
