Residents of Kampung Sungai Baru in Kampung Baru Kuala Lumpur have urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to look into the village redevelopment project there, claiming that the land evaluation price given by the local government is below market value.

Former Federal Territories minister Khalid Abdul Samad said that on Monday (Dec 26), and urged the prime minister to investigate the issue and provide affected residents with fairer compensation.

Earlier at the press conference, Kampung Sungai Baru Residents Committee member Johari Zakari said the affected residents have received a 30-day eviction notice from the Department of Lands and Mines of Kuala Kuala Lumpur (JKPTG), and claimed that they were being unfairly treated.
